Motivational Speaker Do's And Don'tsHere are a few do's and don'ts for you to consider when giving your first few speeches. As you become more practiced, these will become second nature to you. Do: 1. Know your topic extremely well. 2. Speak clearly. 3. Try to project an air of confidence. 4. Use the whole stage if you are not confined 5. Dress for the occasion. 6. Assess your audience (who you will be speaking to). 7. Practice in front of a mirror or video camera. 8. Use humour if your good at it. Don'ts: 1.Use 'um' and 'uh' to frequently. 2.Talk down to your audience. 3.Slouch or in any way appear unprofessional. 4.Be repetitive and boring. Remember, it is OK to make a mistake. How you recover from it is the key. Make fun of yourself because of your mistake or simply tell the audience of your error. It will make you seem more human and put your audience at ease. There is an old adage for speech making; "Tell them what you are going to tell them; tell them, then tell them what you told them". |
